What is the Ready to Work Credential?
A credential awarded by the State of Florida to anyone who has successful passed designated Assessments. A person who has earned a Ready to Work Credential will be considered equipped with the skills needed to enter the workforce.
What are the three levels of Florida’s Ready to Work Credential and how are they scored?
- Bronze
Minimum score of 3 or more on all three assessments - Silver
Minimum score of 4 or more on all three assessments - Gold
Minimum score of 5 or more on all three assessments
The Assessments for Applied Mathematics and Reading for Information are scored on a scale from 3 to 7; the Assessment for Locating Information is scored on a scale from 3 to 6. The questions are multiple-choice.
What Assessments are required to earn a Ready to Work Credential? What is measured?
- Applied Mathematics
Measures workplace mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills from basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to multiple math functions like calculating percentage discounts and markups. The test-taker can use a calculator, and a formula sheet is provided and can be used while taking the assessment. - Reading for Information
Measures reading comprehension and reasoning skills when using written text on the job including memos, letters, directions, signs, notices, bulletins, policies and regulations. - Locating Information
Measures comprehension and application of workplace graphics such as charts, graphs, tables, forms, flowcharts, diagrams, floor plans, maps and instrument gauges.
Who is eligible to earn a Ready to Work Credential?
Any Florida student/jobseeker or employer is eligible to participate in the program.

- Sign-up by completing a registration form in the Resource Room or with a Career Specialist at any WORKFORCE plus Office
- Receive an appointment from a Workforce staff person
- Complete the proctored Ready to Work Assessments
- Receive a Ready to Work Credential, signed by the Governor, once mastery levels have been achieved
Is there a cost to participate?
No. There is no cost – other than time – for students/jobseekers or employers to participate in the program.
