5 Steps to Rapid Employment

If you have found yourself without employment for more than 6 weeks, like many other Floridians, don't let it get you down! Just because you may consider yourself a seasoned job seeker does not mean you are less marketable as an employee.

In fact, WORKFORCE plus has recently invested in the 5 Steps to Rapid Employment program, a two week course that tackles a job search head on from every angle.

Think a job search is just looking through help wanted ads? Think again. If this has been your approach and you are understandably feeling upset about what little acceleration your job search has had, you might consider enrolling in the 5 Steps course.

What does the 5 Steps course address? It equips participants with self-confidence, a stellar resume (instead of an obituary), a clear understanding of their own values and career goals, a career plan and a crystal clear way to implement that career plan.

The 5 Steps course is valuable to everyone who participates in the class. In fact, WORKFORCE plus is one of only two Regional Workforce Boards in the state to bring this resource to their customers. The Regional Workforce Board in Brevard County, Florida, found a 58% placement rate with their pilot program. The success at the WORKFORCE plus office has been just as phenomenal.

If you are interested in participating in the 5 Steps to Rapid Employment class and can commit to attending class five times a week for two weeks, email Bert Mitchell or call 1-866-WFP-JOB1

Workers with Different Abilities

Are you a job seeker with a disability? We have an array of services geared specifically toward meeting your needs!

At WORKFORCE plus, our special needs services serve customers under the Disability Navigator program. Disability Navigator does as its title suggests: it helps you to navigate the workforce system, tools and opportunities available through WORKFORCE plus.

Finding work is a challenge for any job seeker, but there can be, understandably, additional challenges for those working with disabilities. We here at WORKFORCE plus do not let these challenges impede our services or persons with disabilities.

For example, all the materials we have to offer can be provided in an alternative format and we can assist you in filling out any forms or submitting any paperwork. We invite you to bring your job coach or support person with you if you so desire. Additionally, we can accommodate you if you prefer to have a one-on-one orientation instead of attending a group session.

Disability Navigator is here to serve you! If you would like to take advantage of the Disability Navigator and meet one-on-one with a Career Consultant, call 1-866-WFP-JOB1, email wfp@wfplus.org or visit one of our offices.

Hire-A-Vet Month

November is Hire-A-Vet month in Florida, but every day is the best day to hire a vet at WORKFORCE plus.

As a Veteran, you know the benefits of having a vet on your team: Veterans are quick learners, they lead by example, they are great team players, they perform efficiently under pressure and the list goes on and on. `

Understanding that the transition from a military career to a civilian one may not be an easy one, WORKFORCE plus makes it a priority to provide Veterans and transitioning service members and their families the services and resources they need to succeed.

At the heart of the WORKFORCE plus Veteran Program are our specialized Veteran advocates. The first kind is the Local Veteran Employment Representative and the second is the Disabled Veteran Outreach Representative. These advocates work diligently in one-on-one situations with vets returning to the workforce to meet all of their individual needs. Additionally, these staff members have cultivated special recruitment agreements with a number of Veteran-priority employers to guarantee hiring preference to skilled service members and offer Veteran Job Fairs.

Whether our Veteran customers need job search and placement assistance; career planning and counseling; assessments and testing resources; interviewing skills training or referrals our Veteran Services department at WORKFORCE plus can provide every aspect of resources needed to seamlessly rejoin the civilian workforce.

If you are interested in our Veterans Services, please call 1-866-WFP-JOB1, email wfp@wfplus.org or visit any of our offices.
