    Summer Connect 2010

    On March 24, 2010, the House passed the Disaster Relief and Summer Jobs Act of 2010, that expands summer youth jobs opportunities. While the number of jobs and the amount of dollars to be received has not been finalized, WORKFORCE plus is being proactive in determining youth interest in participating in Summer Connect 2010. If you are a youth between the ages of 16-21 and interested in being contacted, please click here to take a quick interest survey.

    Leon County Commission - Summer Youth Training Program 2010

    The Summer Youth Training Program (SYTP) is designed to prepare young people for the world of work. This program only serves individuals between the ages of 14 and 21 years of age residing in Leon County who want to use their summer vacation to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities needed in a workplace environment. This program provides youth with an opportunity to earn money while gaining valuable work experience, skills-oriented training and career exposure. Summer youth applicants are able to choose from a variety of Leon County Divisions which include the Leon County Commissioners Offices, Library Services, Emergency Medical Services, Management Information Systems, Parks & Recreation and several others.

    16-21 year olds meeting specific eligibility criteria can benefit from the First Connect Youth program.

  • Connect to job skills- learn new skills that prepare you to get a job you like

  • Connect to education- gain confidence while you work to complete high school or earn a GED

  • Connect to a career- learn about the many careers that can give you the opportunity to grow and earn money

  • Connect to you- learn more about what you like, how you think and what traits you have to offer on a job

  • Connect to local business- learn how to market your skills and talents to local employers looking for new employees


  • First Connect provides workshops, individual counseling and other services that support your dreams. Make the connection by coming into one of our local offices to explore how WORKFORCE plus can help you reach your goals.

    Bring in a few items to help us get started:
  • Driver's license or state identification card

  • Social security card

  • Birth certificate

  • Proof of family income

  • School schedule or withdrawal information

  • Parent or guardian if you're under 18
