    Internships

One of the most important things young jobseekers can do to further their career is to do an internship. Interns gain valuable skills, network with professionals in a desired industry, and get a first-hand glimpse at what working in a certain field will look like.

Why should you do an internship?

  • Increasingly, employers want to hire job applicants that are experienced.

  • Some internships can lead to employment.

  • If you are going to attend college, those who interned upon graduation are more likely to gain employment at a higher pay grade than those who had not completed an internship.

  • An internship is a gold nugget on a resume.

  • WORKFORCE plus can help by connecting young jobseekers with businesses that offer internships. Additionally, young jobseekers can come to any of the WORKFORCE plus for assistance in taking the necessary steps towards getting an internship. To learn more, call 866-WFP-JOB1.
